About
Play Spider Solitaire Online for Free
Spider Solitaire trades the single deck of Klondike for two decks, ten columns and a much bigger puzzle. Your job is to assemble eight complete runs, each one a single suit stacked from King down to Ace. Every finished run leaves the board on its own, and once all eight are gone the game is yours. At Slice Games, Spider opens instantly in your browser: no download, no account, no waiting.
How to Play Spider Solitaire
The game deals 54 cards into ten columns: the first four columns get six cards each and the remaining six get five. Only the top card of each column is face-up. The other 50 cards wait in the stock, which deals one new card onto every column each time you use it, five deals in total.
- Stack cards in descending order — any card can be placed on a card one rank higher, whatever its suit
- Move runs only when they match — a group of cards travels together only if they are all the same suit and in sequence
- Complete a run to clear it — a same-suit King-to-Ace sequence is removed from the tableau automatically
- Empty columns accept anything — unlike Klondike, you are not limited to Kings, so an open column is your most valuable tool
- Deal with care — in classic rules every column must hold at least one card before you can use the stock
- Win with eight runs — clear all 104 cards and the board is finished
1, 2 or 4 Suits: Pick Your Difficulty
The number of suits is the one setting that changes everything. One suit uses only Spades, so every card connects with every other card of the same rank order. It is relaxed, quick and the best place to learn the flow of the game. Two suits adds Hearts and introduces the real tension of Spider: mixed stacks that look harmless but block your runs. Four suits uses the full deck and is among the toughest solitaire games you can play, built for patient planners who enjoy a long fight.
Scoring
Scoring follows the familiar Windows-style system. You begin with 500 points, each move costs one point, and every completed run earns a 100-point bonus. Fewer moves and faster clears mean a higher final score, so efficiency matters as much as the win itself.
Spider Solitaire Strategy Tips
- Chase an empty column early. Open space lets you shuffle runs around and untangle tough positions.
- Prefer same-suit stacking. Mixed-suit stacks can be built when needed, but they cannot be moved as a unit and often cause losses.
- Uncover face-down cards first. Pick the column with the most hidden cards and work on that one before the others.
- Save the stock for last. Each deal drops a card on every column, so use up your useful tableau moves before you tap it.
- Focus on one or two suits in 4-suit games. Spreading your effort across all four rarely works; keep the others as temporary storage.
- Think before burying a low card. Covering an Ace, Two or Three of a key suit can cost you many moves later.
Win Rates: What to Expect
Published figures differ from site to site, but the pattern is consistent. Experienced players win most one-suit games, often 80% or more. Two suits drops that to roughly 30–50% for skilled players, and casual players land lower. Four suits is a different league: even strong players typically win only about 5–15% of deals, and some layouts are simply unwinnable. Expect many losses on the harder modes and treat each victory as a real achievement.
